In this article we look at business goal setting and a plan that will assist you in achieving your dreams.
One system that has proved incredibly proficient in goal setting is the SMART plan. It is simple and each goal must be defined by the following sentiments.

The SMART goal setting plan

S- Specific
M-Measurable
A-Achievable
R-Realistic
T-Timely

Specific

Make sure that your goal setting and goals are specific. If you know exactly what it is that you want to get done; then it will make it easier to reach. Do not be distracted by other impending things. Keep your eye on your goal and keep focused.

Measurable

Structure your objective goal setting in a way that you can measure your progress. Seeing your goal grow and take shape will give you the drive and stamina to follow through with your goal setting plan.

Achievable

Your goal needs to be achievable. There is no point setting a goal that you know you will never be able to achieve. It is good to aim high. Even if your goal is a long term one that may take much work, it must be achievable.

Realistic

In relating to the previous point made in objective goal setting on the SMART plan, make sure your goals are realistic. You will know what you can and can’t achieve and you need to be realistic about it. Also be realistic about the time it is going to take you to reach your goals. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Timely

You can break up your goal setting in smaller, short term segments. Separate your goal improvement increases into monthly segments that allow you to build on your momentum. This creates measurable, attainable and short-term goals to pursue.

It’s always important and productive to write your goals down on paper, this will give you the opportunity to flesh them out further and have a visual. Document your progress so you can see that you are moving forward and always go back to your goals to remind yourself of them.
